SJT – The New Jersey Farm Bureau announced Thursday a new website for those interested in visiting New Jersey’s farms, finding the freshest produce or finding a place to participate in farm-related activities.

The new website www.visitnjfarms.org allows visitors to search for nearly all agriculture hot spots, including farm stands, wineries and pick-your-own farms.

It shows a map of the state’s 9,000 farms by county, a list of what each farm has in season and lists special events at each location through the end of the year.

“By visiting a farm market, tailgate market, CSA, local winery or community farmers market, you learn where your food comes from and how it’s grown, as well as supporting agriculture and keeping farming a viable way of life in the Garden State,” said John Hauser, president of the New Jersey Farmers’ market Direct Marketing Association. “Www.VisitFarms.org is designed to make it very easy to find a farm.”

Sponsors of the website include Rutgers University, New Jersey Farmers’ Direct Marketing Association and New Jersey Farm Bureau.
