South Jersey Times – WEST DEPTFORD — Assemblyman Adam Taliaferro joined the members of the West Deptford Township Committee on Aug. 19 to honor the West Deptford Boys Little League Intermediate Baseball Team for their victory in the State Championship this summer.
“A state athletic title is one of the most sought after achievements for young athletes and in capturing this title the Eagles have truly brought honor to their families and community,” said Assemblyman Taliaferro. “I applaud the Little League team for its standard of competitive spirit and excellence.”
The Boys Little League Team achieved the first state title in the history of West Deptford’s Little League program. They had an impressive season, out scoring their opponents by 144 to 46 and hitting a total of 44 home runs.
“Local Little League programs are a great example of how youth sports promote and enhance the educational development of our children by instilling a sense of community, belonging, and activity,” added Assemblyman Taliaferro. “Little League programs continue to afford valuable opportunities for our young people by teaching them to work together to achieve a common goal.”
