SNJ Today – Senate President Steve Sweeney and Deputy Speaker John Burzichelli attended the Salem County Veterans Dinner hosted at Davidow Hall at Salem Community College held Thursday night.

“Veterans Day is next week, but we celebrate our veterans every day,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland).

“It’s events like these that highlight our respect for veterans, and in return, recognize those who advocate on their behalf.

We should never forget the sacrifices that veterans and their families have made and continue to make for all of us.”

“I am honored and humbled proud to pay tribute to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much over the years to protect our freedoms and way of life,” said Assemblyman Burzichelli (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland).

“This Veterans Day, I encourage citizens to consider what the day means to them and ask that we all offer thanks to those who have served, and continue to serve our country.”

“It is an honor that the Salem County College gets to host an event that honors veterans and the brave men and women who defend our country,” said Dr. Michael R. Gorman, Salem County College President.  “We are also delighted to recognize the people in Salem County that advocate on behalf of our veterans.”

Award honorees included Congressman Frank LoBiondo, Robert Stanton, Edward Hassler, Fabio Sanservino, William Berglund and William Keeler (posthumous).
