South Jersey Times – On April 11, Assemblyman Adam Taliaferro addressed the Salem County Youth Wellness Summit to welcome the participating youth and community leaders to highlight the importance of the event. The summit is sponsored by the Salem County Youth Wellness Collaborative and the Salem Health & Wellness Foundation.
The Salem County Youth Wellness Collaborative engages Salem County youth in creating a friendly environment with the goal of expanding access to healthcare resources and empowering youth to make healthy decisions. The youth summit provides an opportunity for the collaborative to hear from youth on the services that are available and what may be missing or may need to be expanded. By identifying the healthcare needs of youth, the participants also discuss strategies to reach out to undeserved residents and decrease the fragmenting of services.
“I want to thank all of the participating youth for coming out today to provide their valued feedback,” said Assemblyman Taliaferro. “This summit is important to educating our youth and learning from the issues they or their friends have experienced with our healthcare system. Feedback will promote a fair allocation of services and resources to reach more of our youth and address their healthcare needs.”
“Improving access to healthcare is important, especially in the state’s most rural county,” added Assemblyman Taliaferro. “I commend the Salem County Youth Wellness Collaborative and the Salem Health & Wellness Foundation for their commitment to improving access to healthcare and for their activism on important issues like childhood obesity and teen pregnancy.”
